DEPARTMENT FOR MINERAL RESOURCES AND MARINE GEOLOGY
EU Funds Projects
TIMREX-CRM – T-shaped Master for Innovative Mineral Exploration extended towards the CRM Act.
TIMREX-CRM aims to continue and further improve the TIMREX joint master project for two more cohorts. Graduates will become T-shaped mineral exploration professionals for an efficient implementation of the EU CRM Act, integrating more deep-tech technologies and approaches in field and laboratory practices. The project adds challenge-based learning experiences for students, will strengthen the start-up development actions and ecosystem and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) mindset and improve fieldwork activities accross all academic partners.
The TIMREX-CRM project proposes the continuation of the ongoing TIMREX project, a collaborative effort involving four universities' MSc programs and seven non-academic partners. Each university is responsible for leading one work package. TIMREX-CRM project will focus on curriculum development, expansion of fieldwork and start-up development activities. The Croatian Geological Survey will have an advisory role in several tasks related to the improvement of the Master's degree program in geology at the RGNF, participation in professional internship programs (2-3 students per year) through the related RIS Internship project, and participation in teaching through several lectures per year within regular classes at the RGNF, where research related to remote sensing of mineral resources using satellite images, drone images, etc. will be presented. One of the main tasks would be the development of a student center for field research and the implementation of field exercises in Croatia in the proposed areas of former mines (Rude near Samobor and on Medvednica).
The role of the research institutes is to contribute to the project through participation in the development of the curriculum, proposing graduate theses, supervising student research and development activities that can lead to the achievement of the basic KPIs (Key Performance Indicator) (EITHE05.1 and EITHE05.2_EITRIS).
