Ceremonial Proclamation of New Members of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts on 18 June 2026

Among the 12 newly elected full members, who thereby attained the title of Academician, is Slobodan Miko, Senior Research Advisor (tenured) at the Croatian Geological Survey.

Među 12 novoizabranih redovitih članova, koji su time dobili naslov akademika, nalazi se i dr. sc. Slobodan Miko, znanstveni savjetnik u trajnom izboru u Hrvatskome geološkom institutu.

Through his scientific work, he established and directed palaeoenvironmental and geomorphological research of the Adriatic Sea seabed in Croatia. His contributions include geochemical and palaeoenvironmental studies of sedimentary systems, the development of high-resolution palaeolimnological research, and the international promotion of Croatian geoscience.

As Director of the Croatian Geological Survey and a key figure in the GEOLAB project, he made an outstanding contribution to the development of Croatia's national geoscientific infrastructure and to strengthening the research capacities of the Croatian scientific community.

We warmly congratulate Academician Slobodan Miko on this exceptional recognition and thank him for his outstanding contribution to Croatian and global science.
