IC RCMNS, Vienna, Austria

At the IC RCMNS conference, Katja Mužek presented a scientific poster titled “The revision of upper Pannonian ostracod and mollusk fauna from the Portaferrian type locality of Mislođin (the Pannonian Basin, Serbia)”, based on her research at Mislođin — the type locality of the Upper Pannonian (Portaferrian substage) within the Pannonian Basin. The aim of the study was to revise the ostracod and mollusk assemblages from this locality and to compare the Portaferrian fauna of Lake Pannon with the Pontian faunas of the Dacian Basin. This research contributes to a better understanding of evolutionary patterns and potential migration pathways of freshwater organisms during the Late Miocene in southeastern Europe.

During this conference, Monika Milošević presented a poster featuring preliminary results from the Ugljevik column, which focused on the shallow-water Sarmatian paleoenvironment along the southern margin of the Pannonian Basin, revealed through a multi-paleontological approach.
