Gravity corer
A gravity corer (UWITEC, Austria) is a corer that enables the sampling of short sediment cores from the sea or lake bottom. Sediment cores can be up to 100 cm long. The coring is performed using a winch and a digital length counter of the metal cable. The length of the extracted sediment cores usually ranges between 20 and 50 cm, depending on the type and compactness of the sediment. The length of the cable is 150 m. The winch and the corer are mounted on a boat using a wooden board.
