ARHIVA NOVOSTI

Start of the projects from GeoERA programme

GeoERA (Establishing the European Geological Surveys Research Area to deliver a Geological Service for Europe) is the largest European research programme in the field of geoscience, co-funded by the European commission via ERA-NET Co-fund mechanism in the scope of Horizon 2020. Total programme funding is 30 million euro, and it is supported by 48 European geological surveys and institutes.

More about GeoERA programme: http://geoera.eu/about-geoera/

The programme covers the applied geosciences, addressing four themes: geoenergy, groundwater, raw materials and information platform (http://geoera.eu/themes/).

In May 2018 the project selection was completed and the funding was granted for a total of 15 projects: six from Geoenergy theme, four from Groundwater and Raw Materials theme and one from Information platform theme, which will be a service to all other projects, as well as a source of information for external stakeholders.

July 3-5 2018 a kick-off meeting of the GeoERA programme took place in Brussels, together with the project meetings of individual projects. Selected projects have been introduced, and the collaborators have met the project teams from other countries and interested stakeholders. The expectations from GeoERA programme have been outlined and recommendations of European commission and Stakeholder council were elaborated. Also, current assignments, events and synergies among projects have been discussed, as well as the impact of the programme as a whole. Five employees, the coordinators of individual projects on behalf of the HGI-CGS, attended the meetings.

The projects will focus on the harmonization of data, information and professional standards beyond national borders and the development of existing methods and modelling techniques. GeoERA programme will deliver valuable and publically available data to regulators, decision-makers and end-users of geological data and information. Open access to all project results will be enabled via GeoERA Information platform (i.e. information system based on EGDI)
