STORM: Convective Rain Events impact on ground and surface waters recharge and water quality in depended ecosystems with intergranular porosity

Deepwater-CE logo

At two pilot areas, the Plitvica – Drava river catchments and the upper Česma river catchment, the combined application of stable isotopes H-2, O-18 and O-17, short-lived nucleoids, chemical, and hydrological parameters would improve existing knowledge and give new insights on atmospheric hydrological cycles. To achieve this goal, two years of sampling campaigns will be carried out on six wells, one spring, three rivers, six streams, two nests of suction lysimeters, and two rain gauges. During the rain events, sampling frequency will be minute and/or hourly, depending on the duration of rain event. In the meantime, monthly sampling will be carried out. Gained results will be used for sustainable management of ground and surface waters.
