Education on the use of the United Nations Framework Classification for Mineral Resources (UNFC) - 3rd workshop
On June 18 and 19, 2024, the Geological Survey of Slovenia (GeoZS) hosted the third, last workshop in the education cycle on the application of the UNFC classification. These workshops were held as part of the GSEU (Geological service for Europe) project and the European Center of Excellence for Sustainable Resource Management, in support of the implementation of the Regulation of the European Parliament and the Council establishing a framework for ensuring a secure and sustainable supply of critical raw materials (2024/1252), which has been in force from May 23, 2024.
There were 34 participants from 19 European countries, 15 of which are EU member states. The training was also attended by UNECE representatives, Charlotte Griffiths and Slavko Šolar. The intensive two-day education was devoted to practical exercises, discussions and participants' questions.
The participants, including Erli Kovačević Galović and Nikola Gizdavec from the Department for Mineral Resources and Marine Geology of the Croatian Geological Survey, successfully completed all three levels of education and gained key knowledge for further work, promotion and education about UNFC at the national level.
